Amoeba Race. This is a popular activity which requires you to create groups of about five children each. After creating the groups, you should instruct the participants to choose one member of their team to stand in the center so they can start forming the nucleus of an amoeba. The other four members of the each group will have to start surrounding the nucleus while they face outward. The elbows of the four other members should also be linked together. After that, you should draw tracks for the groups and then start a race. The member who acts as the nucleus will have to direct the entire group forward. You can expect the kids to enjoy this activity while also building a good sense of competition and cooperation.
Many of my Team Building Singapore involve the use of relays with simple equipment such as easy to catch balls. I find an area away from the classroom, with a flat surface and in the shade, if possible. A school hall or covered area is ideal.
Do not use exercises that are very general in nature and could very well apply to any team. Your team building activities should be geared directly towards your team. This means that you need to know what you expect from them and angle exercises so that it gives them an opportunity to work together to discover how they might achieve that. The more specific that you are able to be, the more successful your team will then be as well.
Gym based activities: Games and activities done in gyms or large open spaces are also free. These are much like the outdoor games, but is indoor based. If you do not have a gym facility available many schools will happily open their doors for a Team building activities building course.
Firstly, that the focus for the day is on learning rather than out-and-out belly laughter generating fun. In real life, distractions play an enormous part in shaping how effective a team is. How a team is set up to handle sometime vital distractions and sometimes trivial ones is a key element in how well it performs overall. In that instance, such distractions can add to the quality and relevance of the debriefing session and overall be a positive addition to the team building mix.
The main important factor about building a team for children is to make it fun. Children will bond and have a great time, even if you are looking at it as team building. Ice breakers are great ways to start off the activities, as all the children will get to know one another. Some ice breakers will involve learning names, learning addresses and remembering the other team member’s special interests. These quizzes and activities were created in order to help children relax and feel comfortable before the real tasks begin.
Take away – Whatever the event, take a feedback. It could be written or verbal based on the type of activities. It can also be clubbed with a debriefing session. Clearly discussing the take away and reactions to the session will help you estimate to what extent your objectives have been met. This will also convince the participants that their time was well spent.
