Fold a piece of paper into segments – as many segments as you want petals – as if you were cutting a paper snowflake, and cut out whatever petal shape you like. Open up the paper, and trace the flower shape you just cut out onto the reverse side of your leather, then cut out the shape with sharp scissors. Now repeat the process, this time making a smaller flower shape. Add as many layers as you want, then either glue them together, or punch holes right through and secure the layers together with a few stitches in waxed thread. This will cost you money in the short run, as the leather you use up would have sold for more than the things you can make. But this changes once your Leatherworking skill reaches 150. The investment in improving your skill level will pay off in the long run.
A three-piece mould allows the creation of items like bags and eyeglass cases without using a gusset. The leather is sewn on three sides. Two pieces of the mould are inserted on either side of the interior of the wet leather, and then a wedge is driven between the middle. The forms are left until the leather is dried.
